Installed both new cartridges tonight but only got partial & faded prints on the alignment printout. The printer is nosy when loading a page, but the print process is quiet. Ran out of color a day or two ago and out of black ink this morning. The printer still works, and prints well.but not great. Overall, the manufacturing quality seems awful. Trying to tap it loose caused the glass scanning surface to break. Once replaced, the printer's scanner malfunctioned - the scanner head was jammed. Dell cartridges are tweaked just enough that they are suposedly proprietary.you have to order from them. The printer would not recognize the color carttidge at setup and had to be replaced by Dell. Otherwise, contact HP Instant Ink support for a new cartridge.

Unlike HPs, the software for Lexmark is much much less memory intensive. Replacement cartridges are part of your subscription. (Dell uses Lexmark for their printers, allegedly.) I'm running it off windows xp.I purchased the Dell 964 becaue I need an all-in-one unit that doesn't take up to much space. The printer is about 3 years old now and it did sit for a few weeks before I replaced the low cartridge so I did try cleaning the printer head as well.

After this I tried removed all the cartridges and replaced them. After trying this I was getting a message saying there was a calibrating error but it didn't say what the error was.
